This is a friendly reminder with important information about the upcoming blood drive we are hosting along with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center here at Constable Chris Jones’ office. It will be held on June 9th in the parking lot of our office; 19100 Unity Park Drive, Magnolia, TX 77355 where they will have a Donor Coach from 9:00am – 1:30pm.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has less than a one-day supply of blood; we are asking for the participation of our Pct. 5 family and community to help make the difference. The coronavirus does not pose any risk to blood donors, either during the donation process or while attending organized blood drives. People who have received a coronavirus vaccine can donate blood so long as they are symptom-free and feeling well, they have a normal temperature, they are not short of breath or coughing productively. Routine blood donor screening measures continue to be in place that prevents individuals with clinical respiratory infections from donating blood, these same measures apply to those with coronavirus disease. There is no waiting period after getting a vaccine dose from Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Janssen/Johnson&Johnson, AstraZeneca, Sanofi, Novavax; donation is safe. No cases of coronavirus or flu virus have been linked to blood exposure. Instead, we protect ourselves and our donors by maintaining clean hands, wearing gloves, cleaning work surfaces, and covering coughs and sneezes.
Anyone who is age 17 or older may be eligible to donate blood. Individuals who are 16 years old may be eligible to donate with parental consent. You must bring a valid picture ID prior to donation.
- Donors age 19 and up must weigh at least 110 pounds.
- Donors age 16 to 18 must weigh 122 pounds. *16-year-old donors must have parental consent.
- Potential donors must be in general good health, without any cold or flu symptoms.
