School Resource Officer

Every School within the Magnolia Independent School District has an assigned School Resource Officer (SRO) contracted through Constable Precinct 5 that is responsible for a diverse role within the school and community. . Each SRO is a sworn officer assigned to a particular school on a long-term basis, trained to perform three major roles; law enforcement, law related counselor and law related educator.

Goal

The goals of Pct. 5 SRO’s include providing a safe learning environment in each of the schools within Magnolia ISD. We provide valuable resources in addition to positive relationships with each school, the staff members, students and community. We also develop strategies to resolve problems affecting our youth today.

Patrolling

Each SRO patrols their assigned school making sure doors are locked and secure for the safety of all staff and students.

Communication

Every day the SRO builds a call with dispatch showing arriving and leaving at their assigned school. Each SRO wears a communication radio, where they can communicate with the department, as well as; each other if ever needed. Once a week each SRO is required to fill out a security checklist, which shows if there is any open doors, windows, gates etc. or any other security breaches.
