
The Swift Water Rescue Team (SWRT) is a specialized unit within the Montgomery County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office. The team is comprised of 19 dedicated members that swiftly and efficiently rescue individuals in water-related emergencies. Our team includes highly trained professionals equipped with the skills and tools necessary to handle complex and challenging situations in swift water and flood environments.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide rapid, effective rescue operations during water emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected by swift water conditions here in Montgomery County and surrounding areas. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence and preparedness.
Training
The Swift Water Rescue Team members undergo rigorous training annually that includes:
Medical Response: Basic and advanced first aid skills to provide immediate care during rescue operations.
Technical Water Rescue: Proficiency in techniques for rescuing individuals from various water conditions, including fast-moving rivers and floodwaters.
Safety Procedures: Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols to protect both rescuers and those in distress.
Advanced Equipment Handling: Expertise in using specialized rescue equipment such as ropes, harnesses, and boats.
